As a core part of the Delivery Partner team for the City of Calgary, TXM Consult is leading the engineering and delivery management of rail systems, the maintenance service facility (MSF), and the rolling stock fleet for this new Light Rain Transit line in Calgary.

The Challenges

Affordability:

The Calgary Green Line has faced significant inflationary cost increases compared to its pre-COVID budget.

Changing Requirements:

The project adopted an early contractor involvement procurement approach, promoting collaboration but limiting competition.

Managing Integration:

The Green Line has complex integration requirements between infrastructure contractors, systems suppliers, the LRV supplier, and the O&M  organisation.

Implemented innovative procurement models and rigorous optioneering to ensure cost-effective solutions while maintaining affordability.

Systems Engineering:

Applied leading systems engineering practices, including CENELEC Standards EN50126, with robust requirements and configuration management to formalise and stabilise project requirements.

Interface Management:

Established clear technical and non-technical interface agreements among stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and understanding of responsibilities.
