The Challenges
- Land Acquisition and Property Disputes: Acquiring the necessary land, particularly in densely populated urban areas, can be time-consuming and costly. Additionally, there can be resistance from property owners or communities affected by new routes, leading to legal disputes or delays.
- Construction and Traffic Disruptions: Managing construction while minimising impacts on daily commuters, businesses, and local residents is a complex task. Delays in construction schedules, due to factors like weather, unforeseen underground conditions, or issues with contractors, can further complicate project timelines.
The Solutions
- Project Governance: Established a structured Visualisation Framework to engage the team in highlighting concerns and committing to actions and timelines.
- Expertise Across Workstreams: Deployed specialists in key areas such as Systems Assurance, Systems Integration, Planning, Rolling Stock, and Operations
- Stakeholder Management: Worked with the various Owners, Constructors, Maintainers and Operators to ensure collaboration and consistent communication.
